No frequencies stand out, and none is disconnected from the whole. Unlike the other three designs I auditioned for this survey, the MP150 is a beautifully balanced amplifier. The treble of the MP150 is still a little lacking in extension and solidity, but it is notably airy. Perhaps most significantly so in the upper frequencies, where most Class D amps simply sound wrong, so wrong they can-again, like nascent CD playback-induce headaches. The Kharma, and I haven’t a clue as to why, sounds more like a Class AB design than does any other Class D model of my experience. The other is that Kharma’s MP150 is the best Class D amplifier I’ve heard-and that by a country mile.Īm I damning the MP150 with faint praise? Nope. In my opinion, most Class D is not only not up to even a mid-level linear amplifier, it is, like early CD playback, often dreadfully bad. One is that the Kharma and Edge models had given me unrealistically high expectations for this still young technology. But I can say that my experience with Class D, which now spans five models heard in my system, leads me to two early conclusions. Well, Kharma makes no other amps, so nobody knows what ideal it was voiced to.

(This still seems to be the case, but to a limited degree.) As I read and spoke with colleagues about other Class D amps (and read reviews of some “hot” models), early indications were that Class D was some kind of electronic putty, able to be molded by its manufacturer to sound like other electronics in a given manufacturer’s line- Edge sounds like Edge, ARC like ARC, Rowland like Rowland, etc.

Though a bit lightweight-sounding, the G.5 shared many of the virtues we appreciate in Edge’s other solid-state gear-a warm, open, lovely sound, free of darkness and grain. Before that, I’d briefly heard only one other Class D amplifier in my system, the Edge G.5. cheaper than a years cinema. The Kharma MP150 has been my reference amplifier since I received a pair in March to go with the company’s gorgeous-sounding Mini Exquisite speakers (a review of which will appear in our next issue).

Very happy with my projector and apart from a few minor gripes it was well worth the money and has transformed our movie night as there is nothing like curling up in bed with a good whiskey and my wife and watching a film six feet in width. But again to be fair using the adapter is easier than one I would have to purchase as they require power to that where as this one does not.

Although it's a great addition add with others this is a £15 purchase sold separately it does require me to remove my phone out of its case because of the width of the adapter plug. So my overall score on here is 4 out of 5 because of the power lead and the Samsung adapter.

Two it would have been nice to have a USB connector power cable so I could use portable power pack to run this away from mains for a longer time. One it could be much longer because it has to be seated on my tripod for my screen and two feet of cable is a little short. I does not like using a firestick I tried two different projectors and both lost signal within ten minutes.but connected to my phone, tablet, camera everything worked as I thought it would.

It's has no display settings but to be honest it's colour reproduction is very good, whites are white and colours are realistic looking with no tinting unlike some others I have seen. There is no keystone function so you do have to get this level and it does not have reverse image so it's front screening only. The picture is even all across the screen and does not have focus softening towards the edges like many of the cheap ones.the fan is loud compared to higher end models but not loud enough to distract when watching a film.īattery life is about 1hr 40 and although it charges my phone it's not enough entirely but it does give me about 6 hrs playing where as without it would be about 3 or 4. I also purchased a 6 foot projection screen and this is able to fill it at night and although it's always just a little out of focus it's only a little and does not ruin the film.bearing in mind I am not screening at 60 inches it's more like 6 feet.

I love it's simplicity of use.plug and play.the sound is terrible but using a Bluetooth speaker whilst it's plugged into my phone solves this problem and also means I can have the sound where I prefer it.near the screen. I also purchased mine from maplins because it was the same price as amazon.
